Monitoring unpainted regions as you paint

You can keep a display of the unpainted regions as you paint using the check display mode. In this display mode, all the unpainted regions are shown in black, and all painted regions are shown in white.

  1. Select the Browser window and click on the check mode button.
  1. Resize the window so that you can see enough detail.
  1. Paint into the Painting window; check the Browser window to see the remaining unpainted areas.
Also, a field in the Painting window tells you the number of Unpainted regions remaining in the current drawing.

You can also put the Painting window into check mode temporarily by holding down the Spacebar. As soon as you release the Spacebar, your display reverts to the previous mode. The Spacebar shortcut also works on unpainted or partially painted drawings in the Browser window.

However, for normal use, it is better to work with the Painting window in paint display mode and the Current Frame window in check mode. Then you can continue to paint in one window with the color display, while seeing an up-to-date display of the unpainted regions in the other.
